Silicon "IP Licensing Best Practices" Initiative

Silicon-IP, Inc. founder Kurt Wolf is a long time and active contributor on GSA IP Committees.  He is currently active in the IP Licensing Best Practices working group.  This working group is an on-going initiative by the Global Semiconductor Alliance to enable their membership to reduce cost and time associated with semiconductor licensing.  The intended outcome of the silicon IP Licensing Best Practices activity is to provide information to GSA members that enable them to make the IP license negotiation less costly and shorter.  Improving the mutual understanding, between IP buyer and IP seller, of the financial and operating constraints each party must satisfy during negotiations is an expected part of the outcome.

In addition to the IP Licensing Best Practices, Silicon-IP, Inc. also uses the GSA IP Ecosystem Tool Suite and IP ROI Calculator to provide due diligence & license negotiation of 3rd party IP for silicon design clients.  The IP Interest Group will continue working through the summer and is expected to publish final results of the IP Licensing Best Practices during the GSA Expo.  Please volunteer to actively participate.

The Mission of the IP Interest Group is to address IP industry challenges preventing consumers from success with IP. The IP includes: silicon, embedded software, verification and system level IP.

The Objectives of the IP Interest Group are:

    • Uncover the obstacles preventing IP vendors from successfully selling IP and the obstacles that are preventing IP users from successfully integrating IP

    • Develop tools that enable greater communication and decision making

    • Improve IP usage by applying metrics that align users and sellers on Key Success Indicators (KSIs)
